The Man And The Snake

In the middle of a winter, a man found a snake laying stiff and frozen by the cold breeze on a trail when he was walking back to his hut.

Compassion entered the man’s heart, he took the poor snake, placing it in his bosom, and he went back to where he was heading.

The warmth from the man’s body slowly revived the snake. Having regained its natural instinct the snake bit its benefactor, inflicting on him a mortal would.

Re-told from Aesop’s

... and most of the times, the greatest kindness will not bind the ungrateful.
